These terms apply to anyone who uses careerinenergy.com or the CIE app, whether you're a candidate signing up or an employer sending us a role. By using the site, you agree to them.

The service

Career in Energy is a specialist recruitment business for upstream oil and gas roles. For candidates, the service — creating a profile, applying to roles, receiving an AI-assisted fit assessment, and being submitted to clients where a recruiter judges you a match — is free. For employers, we recruit on a contingent, contract, or retained basis, under terms agreed separately for each engagement.

Candidate accounts

• You must give accurate information in your profile and CV, and keep it up to date.
• One account per person. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure.
• We don't charge candidates for using the service, and we won't send your CV to a client without telling you first.

AI-assisted assessment

Match scores and feedback generated by our matching tool are advisory. They're never the final word — a recruiter reviews every assessment, and no application is accepted or rejected by the tool on its own.

Employers

Sending us role requirements doesn't itself create a placement fee obligation — our commercial terms (fee structure, payment terms, guarantee period) are agreed with you directly before any engagement begins. We only submit candidates who've applied, been assessed, and been reviewed by a recruiter.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Give us false or misleading information about yourself, your experience, or a role.
• Use the site to scrape, copy, or redistribute candidate or role data.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data, or disrupt the service.
• Use the service for anything unlawful.

No guarantee of outcome

We work to match candidates with suitable roles and clients with suitable candidates, but we can't guarantee that any application will lead to an interview, an offer, or a placement.

Intellectual property

The careerinenergy.com site, its design, and its content belong to Career in Energy. Your CV and profile content remain yours — we use it only as described in our Privacy Policy.

Ending your account

You can deactivate your account at any time from Account settings. We may also suspend or end an account that breaches these terms.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we'll update this page and change the date above.
